Ballajura Lions Club
Ordinary people doing extraordinary things - supporting people with a disability, community greening, fundraising for worthwhile causes.
On an annual basis we fundraise approximately $40,000 via the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, a prize wheel we conduct at local fairs, flea market every four weeks in conjunction with Morley, Noranda & Bassendean Lions Club.
We also sell Lions Christmas Cakes & Puddings and pack Christmas Hampers for a local brick manufacturer. We are also involved in raising funds through Movies in the Park for our local community where we put on a Sausage Sizzle and sell cool drinks.
During the last financial fiscal year 2012/13 we have assisted the Lions Mobility Foundation with the purchase of two walkers to assist young children with serious disabilities to stand and walk unaided. This is a fantastic project and to learn more or get involved just contact the Lions Club of Ballajura.
The funds from one of our Bunning's Sausage Sizzle this year went to help a family member in the Ballajura community suffering a serious illness.
Once again during December 2012 we presented memorial awards at the three government primary schools in Ballajura providing $500 to each school for students attending Ballajura College the following year. We also sponsor four children in our annual Lions Children of Courage awards held at the Pan Pacific hotel in Perth. These children have persevered and overcome adversity in their lives whether it is a disability or an act of extreme courage.
During the 2012/13 year we have donated over $15 000 dollars to various community groups and foundations to assist them in the fantastic work that they carry out. This included Foodbank, Breast Cancer WA, Lions Cancer Institute, Lifeline, Australian Lions Foundation, Asthma Foundation WA, Nikolas Maxwell, Royal Flying Doctor, Lions Save Sight Foundation. Leo club of Morley & Carnamah, Wheelchair for Kids, Lions Mobility Foundation to name a few.
As Lions we enjoy an active social agenda as well and this includes our annual Christmas Party, finger dinner after each meeting, attending Lions Conventions, ten pin bowling, Chinese dinner evening, District Awards Evenings, Quiz Evenings, visiting other clubs and a lot more.
We have currently 34 members and to be a part of our Lions Club and to make a big difference in your community just follow the link below and contact us to start your journey of serving those less fortunate than ourselves.
